This is a unified effort of the Bishops of Washington State that will slowly restore public worship on our church grounds and buildings in a way that offers the spiritual treasures of the church while showing our respect for the dignity of human life by keeping our parishioners safe in the midst of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Please note that the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday and Holy Day Masses remains in effect. At this point, the only places in our diocese that might be able to offer Masses of up to 50 people inside the church building are in Kittitas and Grant County, if the pastors have determined, with diocesan approval, that this can be done in accordance with the plan. The same holds true for outdoor Masses of up to 100 people in all counties. The priests of the Yakima area have determined that they will begin offering outdoor Masses the weekend of June 6-7, for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.
Please offer your encouragement and support to your pastors and their parochial vicars, deacons, and dedicated parish staff and volunteers as we work together to put this plan into effect.
