Sister Andrea with the Dominican Sisters of Fatima in Puerto Rico has shared this update from the aftermath of the earthquakes:
“The picture is bleak.
The General House of the Congregation suffered serious structural damage. So serious, that the nuns have to leave the place…
In the Parish of Guánica, the parish and all the chapels are destroyed. Some have not yet been able to rescue the Blessed Sacrament under the rubble.
The father has 9 refugee centers. Help for breakfast and meals is not coming. There are people going hungry… He is sleeping in a chair in the garden. They have lost everything.”
With your help, we can assure Sr. Andrea that there is hope.
She and her fellow sisters are now being housed at the diocese until they are assured that their motherhouse is safe.
You can donate to secure shelter and supplies for those displaced by these devasting quakes.
But you must act now. Every minute that passes, there are people going hungry and homeless.
