Many parishes, including St. Stephen the Martyr Parish in Renton, are coordinating buses and other details for the Mass and March for Life.  The WSCC has also prepared a helpful online resource for this important event at our state’s capitol building.

  Parental Notification Bill Introduced  
  SB 5185 requires notification to parents or guardians in cases of abortion involving a minor. Full article.  
  New Bill to Repeal Death Penalty  
  Even though the death penalty in Washington state was declared unconstitutional last fall, it remains part of state law. A bill introduced in the state legislature, SB 5339, removes the statute completely.  Full article.  
  Toolkit for National Slavery and Human Trafficking Month  
  January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Month and February 8th, the feast day of St. Josephine Bakhita, has been designated as an annual day of prayer and awareness against human trafficking. Find out how to order the toolkit for your parish. Full article.  
  Excellent Op-Ed by Congressman on Religious Liberty  
  U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) shared a thoughtful essay about the importance of religious liberty that was published recently in The Hill.

  Supporting Affordable Housing and Homelessness Projects  
  State legislators have introduced a bill that provides cities and counties the authority to use real estate excise taxes to support affordable housing and homelessness projects. Find out about when this bill will be heard next week in Olympia. Full article.
