Dear Father:
I am keenly aware that the robust process of prior review for all speakers – clergy and laity – has been a major change. So has the review of clergy credentials – on an event by event basis – for all clergy entering the Diocese of Yakima. However, we are receiving too many requests at the last minute. I must inform you that late requests will end up being “refusals” which means you, your parish leadership and the local organizations you work with must plan in advance giving sufficient notice for staff to handle requests. Also, remember you – as the pastor – should be signing off on all requests in your parish. I would gently remind you that Elvia Gonzalez, our Vice-Chancellor, does not work full-time as a result of the reduction in workforce conducted three years ago. So kindly remind everyone the importance of advance planning and advance notice. Again, I thank you for your attention this matter. Below are the links for the essential documents which are accessible to you and your leadership on the parish website.
Blessings,
Bishop Joseph Tyson
